I would call yesterday an overall success. Could I have eaten cleaner? Absolutely! Did I work out hard and earn some pizza? YES!!!!!! So I had some pizza, it was delicious. And now I am beginning to wonder if I work out just so I can eat.
Yesterday was surprisingly slow at the gym…so I had a workout all to myself! Hooray! We did a warm up on the rower…I hate the rower. It makes me wish I was tall! 🙁

My goal for today? Even though it is Friday I really need to make sure I keep myself motivated to go to the gym tonight and get in a workout!
Let’s catch up on the past 2 days…2 totally different days! Tuesday was what I would call “a normal” day for me. I would do two workouts…I did a “boot camp” and heightened yoga class. (Heightened yoga – where yoga and TRX bands are one.) I ate well also!

Now…yesterday was a different story. Granted my co-worker and I went on a nice walk around the Capitol which is 1.1 miles…so I got a slight workout in. BUT food trucks are my weakness! OMG! And when they are so close to work…my Inner Fat Girl wins! Krush Burger is one of my favs! Right now they have a seasonal crab cake burger which was heaven in a bun with pea shoots! So yummy! Along with the Cowbell and good ol’ sweet potato tots! I can tell you, it was worth every calorie! Even IF I went over!
Now I don’t know how accurate the my fitness pal food log is, but it made it seem like the damage was not SO bad. Except I know that I FEEL it today. I still feel full and really sluggish. Maybe it was not worth it! Who am I kidding! It was SOOOOOOOOO worth it! Thank goodness they don’t come in the area too often!
Needless to say…I am SO looking forward to my workout today. Hopefully it will make me feel better and I won’t feel so sluggish!
Choices. So it has been almost a week since my last blog post…so sorry! I have also been TERRIBLE at tracking my food! 🙁 But once again…it is a new week and great opportunity to try and start over…AGAIN! It may seem lame of me to re-start over…and we are not even through the month of January…but sometimes…life takes over. It happens. I made the choice to read a book or watch a TV show instead of blog. Sometimes…I just need that. Choices.
I can tell you…I worked out…4 days last week and it was hard. I am not going to lie. Keeping myself motivated when all I want is a nap. But I have goals! I have things I want to accomplish! Right? RIGHT! That is what I have to keep telling myself. I made the choice to work out. I made the choice to make the most out of my hour work outs because that was all I had time for. Could my food choices been better? Possibly…overall I ate well. Lots of spinach salad with red onion (had a craving) and one of my favorite recipes…balsamic marinated steak…enough for me to have lunch for work all week.
So now I have made the choice that I am going to make more of an effort to be making more utilization of this blog…and I don’t have to make it ONLY about health and fitness…
On the plus side? I moved marbles! YIPEE! I have a total of 16 now! And my boyfriend even moved some over into his jar! He no longer OWES the jar a marble he moved 4 over!
Today I tried the Blogilates workout DVD! (Thank you Nani!) If you have not heard of Blogilates check it out! Cassey Ho is so fun and energetic! She is not for everyone…but I love her YouTube channel and now this hour long workout DVD!
I plan on working out again tomorrow. I will do a better job of tracking my food…so until then…
Some days…you just need pho! Especially on cold winter days like this one…so today…I indulged in pho! And it was delicious and worth every calorie. The only regret I have is that I was not able to take a picture of the delicious-ness. 🙁
BUT…we had a really good workout today. And I decided that I get too frustrated to try and figure out my “calories burned” with the My Fitness Pal app so I will just post my work out instead. We had a warm up of 1 burpee, 1 squat, 1 sit up…then 2 burpees, 2 squats, 2 sit-ups…and so on…for 7 minutes. I was warmed up after that! I got to 8…I was excited! 🙂 The rest of our workout was:

Another week begins! I have found that since I have not prepped my food for the week my eating has been a hot mess. And I find myself working out twice as hard. Seems like a step in the wrong direction! So I told myself, tomorrow I will cook the rest of my lunches for the week and have some dinners pre-prepared! NO EXCUSES! Overall the eating was NOT too bad, I could have made such better choices with my meal options…but tomorrow is another day and all I can do is try again!
So it is Sunday fast approaching midnight…where did the weekend go?! Lucky for me I was able to get a at home yoga workout in Saturday and get up early enough to go to a spin class on Sunday! 🙂 And for eating at odd hours I was able to keep under my calorie daily limit!
Another fun thing…Saturday I moved another marble over! 14 now! VERRRRRY excited! I think that Tuesday will be the official date for moving marbles.
So I was inspired by Trish to do a marble jar. But instead of tracking my weight I will be moving marbles based on a scale of my weight AND body fat. Hopefully the sight of my marbles in the kitchen next to the refridgerator will continue to motivate me. (A reminder to NOT STUFF my face!!!) I have 100 to move total…once I move all 100 I will be in the “healthy” range for my height and age! 🙂 The best part? My boyfriend decided that he would be doing this with me! The bummer for him…I got to move 13 marbles over and he still owes the jar one marble! :X
I survived my first full week back at work after a nice vacation. So I was really looking forward to it being FRIDAY! 🙂 I even got a nice little walk in at lunch knowing I was not going to be working out at the gym. I know I need to incorporate some rest days and not go to hard, to fast.
The downside, if I don’t go work out it is almost like my boyfriends thinks it is the perfect opportunity to pig out! YIKES! So I did good and had some pizza which was delicious, but I did not over due it. 🙂
So the challenge yesterday: a birthday party. At…Buffalo Wild Wings! YIKES! And yet, I still managed to survive! Hooray! I got to indulge a bit with 4 of their delicious, boneless chicken wings with garlic parmesan seasoning! Along with a yummy side salad (overpriced of course) and the vinaigrette dressing on the side. Another yay-for-me moment – I did not use all the dressing in the cup! Only about three-fourths of the teeny, tiny cup.
I also still managed to get a work out in! Woohoo! It was a good one! We did a 10 -1 workout of: sled push, burpess, and kettlebell swings. Then or skill of the day was the Turkish get-ups.
I have been using My Fitness Pal and it seems to be great at logging my food but not so great logging my workouts. My workout yesterday said I had burned 73 calories in 1 hour. 🙁 Anyone have any suggestions for an exercise logging – particularly weight training – app?
And today is Friday! Yay! Almost the weekend! This weekend my goal is to not eat crappy! So easy to get off track when I am not working! And to make my marble jars to SEE my progress! 🙂
So…I love Pinterest. Like…I wish I could get paid for pinning! But it is also an awesome resource for fun and healthy recipes! Although I love fruits and veggies…I love pizza and fried foods too!
So Pinterest has been able to help me find ways that I can keep eating foods that I love but a bit healthier. The easiest and obvious one was baked not fried…and tonight I just had the taste for a cheese stick. I mean, who doesn’t love cheese? So I was lucky enough to to find a recipe that did not seem half bad for Baked or Fried Mozzarella Sticks. Now what I loved about it most was…I don’t HAVE to make 12 I can just make 2! That is enough to make me feel like I had my craving satisfied and not overdose on the calories! PLUS…they don’t look half bad…and I did not use a lot of EVOO so I wonder if they would have been browner if I did…I only lightly covered them. I also used the low-fat not fat-free cheese since I was not able to find any of the fat-free. I may try experimenting with soy cheese next time, but it just looked like the wrong color! Overall this recipe was delicious and I will DEFINITELY be making it again! Here is the recipe:
Baked or Fried Cheese Sticks
Sometimes I want a little cheese and a little crunch. This satisfies my cravings without going crazy on the calories.
So today I decided was a rest day. I had an appointment right after work and did not want to rush to the gym. So I decided to take the day off. Overall, I could make use of taking a walk during my breaks to get SOME kind of exercise in…but the food damage was not TOO bad, I was over 100 calories, darn cheese sticks!
On a side note…Trish had pinned a visual motivator for her weight loss journey that I am going to try and make this weekend! Such an awesome idea! Any motivation to keep me on track is worth it! 🙂
