Fight For Air Climb 2014

This year for the Fight for Air Climb I raised $350!! More than my goal of $250! So happy that I was able to raise more than I did last year. Every little bit counts in the fight against cancer. (Read why I climb here.) Once again it took me 10 minutes to complete the climb.

Acro Yoga!

I have a new obsession…acro yoga! I LOVE IT! It is so fun! The problem I have is finding people to practice with! ::sigh::

What is acro yoga? A combo of yoga, acrobatics, and therapeutics. Now, I have only been able to take one specifically designed acro yoga class, but I got to try it out two other times before that. It is a different type of yoga practice and it was challenging. I loved that! You need to be able to trust the other people you are practicing with and you need to have trust in yourself that you can do it.

I soon discovered that it is VERY important to be both a base and a flyer. They both work together, a base needs to know what a flyer is going to experience and a flyer needs to know what a base is going to experience. It is definitely important to be BALANCED!

I am so excited about this new form of yoga that I am going to go on a yoga treat to Costa Rica! It will be a combination of balances, yoga, acro yoga, and thai massage! I am going to be going with another girl from the gym named Kimiko. November can not get here soon enough!

Handstand Nation!

Yesterday was SO MUCH FUN! Sandra had set up a handstand clinic with an instructor who studied at a circus school in San Francisco. And it was so much fun…not only working on balance, but the acro yoga we got to experience at the end of class!

Sariah from The Handstand Nation was our instructor along with some of her friends. We went over headstands, tripod headstands, and of course HANDSTANDS! With a lot of awesome drills that I can work on to get stronger and find my balance.

Who knew that acro yoga would be so much fun! I was scared to try it but it was like cheerleading with yoga…strange description I know…but it was stunting with yoga poses! So much fun! I am looking forward to that workshop at the end of the month!

Here are some of our acro yoga poses…if I was thinking I would have taken more pictures…especially when we were working on our handstands…next time I will know!
